Republican Banana
Cashier: Swipe your cardigan please.
Customer: Huh?
Cashier: Could you please swipe your cardigan?
Customer: Ummm...
Me: Swipe your card again.
I walked away from that conversation repeating those words over and over, having never before stopped to consider the similarity.
Card again // cardigan
Card again // cardigan
Card again // cardigan
Yeah, I'm easily amused.

There is a much loved 'Two Ronnies' TV sketch in the UK revolving around this very scenario opening with the now immortal lines:
Customer: Four candles please.
Shop Assistant places four candles on counter.
Customer: No! four candles !
Assistant looks perplexed.
Customer: Four candles ! You know - handles for forkes, fork handles !
It goes on like this for some time and yes, as a nation we are easily amused, or at least we were in the 70's.
Those both (you and Glenn) sent me into a fit of giggles.
I needed that today. Thanks.
Glen — That certainly made me laugh, but I must admit... I can't get over the now-nagging, semi-absurdist question:
Are forks and fork handles sold separately in the UK?
Here, they come pre-assembled as a single utensil.

Ah, I see what you mean - no these were garden forks. In fact here it is in all it's post-analogue you tube golry:

All I can think is David Lettermen at the Oscars: Oprah, Uma. Uma, Oprah. Don't ask me why.
Both of those made me smile. Thank Third and Glencross.
