Wrap Your Brain Around This

My mother is allergic to her own tears.

So much so, in fact, that her ophthalmologist implanted tiny little plugs into her tear ducts, and put her on a pretty intense regimen of saline drops.

I'd be lying if I didn't say the muse within finds the whole situation to be bitterly poetic.

Something about human aversion to tragedy, or the inability to express grief as God (or mother nature) intended.

Wow. Um... yeah. That is kinda hellish in more ways than I can even begin to describe. Good luck to her.

well then, just think about all the sneezing, redness, and itching you've given her over the years.

you ought to be ashamed.

I didn't know something like that was possible.

BPP - She actually found out about this a year or two ago. I'm just behind on writing about it.

DS - Me? Nah. I've been pretty easy on my folks in that regard.

Winter - I'd never heard of it before, either. And until your comment, I didn't even think to look it up and see if there were other poor folks out suffering from a similar condition. A lot of results come back, but most of them are message boards where people say they've been given a similar diagnosis and "has anyone ever heard of this?" I can't find a legitimate opthamological site that goes into more details.
