Not a Hippie

OK, yeah, maybe I like the smell of patchouli candles, and maybe I'd burn more incense if it didn't give me such a terrible headache. Maybe I occasionally wear peasant skirts, and maybe I get all warm and fuzzy when I see that Florida's Natural is finally promoting the fact that it's one of few national brands that doesn't get its oranges from South America (not that I have a problem with South America — it's just that the current method for harvesting crops there comes at a huge expense to our environment).

But I've never smoked anything, and I don't own a single Grateful Dead album.

[Though I like them OK.]

So, um... take that, people at work.

If you shave your pits and your legs AND you eat meat, I can assure you are not a Hippy. Stoner or not.

Stacy - I don't bother shaving those things (or even showering, for that matter) when I'm camping, but otherwise going a day or two without makes me feel all... gross. I eat poultry 2-3 times a week, but I always feel guilty about it.

It's okay to be a hippie - even just a little bit....I get called "granola", same thing....

Thanks for sharing this :]

The New Yorker once did a piece about the use of slave Hispanic labor in Florida's orange groves. Don't feel so superior.

I like the smell of patchouli too, except when it's being used to mask the B.O. of a Hippy.

I'm neutral on Dead music, but the concerts are a full circus.

My orange juice purchases have been 100% Florida's Natural ever since I read that post of yours, and I did notice last time I bought it that they actually advertised your point.
