"My only enemy is time." ~Charlie Chaplin

Between car shopping, preparing for a new season of softball, and all things related to moving (packing, address changing, etc.), I've not had a lot of free time lately. Add to that I'm facing a pretty busy schedule at work, and anything I'd like to blog about has pretty much been reduced to a notation scrawled on scrap paper that I may or may not ever return to again.

I've not exactly been the most attentive reader of late, either. I expect that will all change in two weeks (by which point I hope not only to have moved, but also to have unpacked).

But until then, I thought I'd pull out some old photographs and diatribes that I've never posted on blogger (though if you've known me long enough, you may have seen these before). My goal being to post one or two of these "oldies" every day until I can return for more proper posting.

Hope all is well on your end.

(Sorry. Had to.)

Good luck getting it all done in time.

how'd the car shopping go?

BPP - Thanks, man. I needed that.

DWC - It didn't, actually. Spent Friday working my budget only to realize I can't afford a car payment unless I significantly change my spending (mainly, I'd have to cut my food budget and "gift" budget in half). Decided to go through with it regardless and just hope for the best.

Spent Saturday morning frantically using Edmunds.com to calculate the actual cost to own for some of the cars I'm looking at, and then took my current vehicle to the state for its inspection.

It failed, of course. But the guy there told me I had until the end of July to get it straightened out (i.e. either get it repaired or buy new). I figured there was no sense in rushing to buy something new this weekend when I could wait until after I moved & got settled in. Besides, the 2.9% financing deal I was trying to cash in on with Honda was only a three year deal. I had hoped to have a 3-4 year loan, and even though 2.9 looks good... if it has to be paid off in three years, that equals out to payments in excess of $600 a month. That's just not happening.

Softball? Are you a professsional or amateur?

Matt - Professional, of course.

PS to Matt - Just kidding. Strictly amateur. I played through junior high, and didn't really pick up a bat again until last summer, when I played in an amateur league. This spring I'm playing 16-inch for the first time. I was looking forward to it, but after damaging my palm this past weekend (you don't wear a glove in 16-inch), I'm having second thoughts.

Stacy - I don't know what that means, but I hope it's good.

(In which case... thanks!)
