"Hello Down There!"

Or so said my neighbor at 3 a.m. this morning as six police officers dragged him down the stairs, restraining him on the floor outside of my door.

They had already cuffed his hands but he was flailing, refusing to walk, and kicking everything that came onto his path.

"Get the feet cuffs" one of the police officers said, while another threatened to use alternative means to get my neighbor down the next flight of stairs.

Meanwhile this man howled from the floor, shouting and screaming and leaving us only with this as he was carried by a dozen hands out of the building:

"Now you can go back to sleep you [expletive deleted] [expletive deleted] [expletive deleted]!"

Whether or not that was true for the guy that lives across the hall from me (to whom the comment was directed), I don't know.

But there certainly wasn't any more sleep for me.

Why haven't they been evicted? I thought that was the whole idea. One would assume that six cops would be enough to make that a reality. (Not that you would need six cops to have him evicted, necessarily, but I am sure it is grounds.) I think your landlord needs to do the right thing. Maybe you would sleep better at night.

They were served an eviction notice. But they have a legal right to contest the eviction, and they were doing just that. Management can't officially "kick them out" until the legal battle is over — and only then, if management wins.

So this was going to go to court, unless it got so bad than anyone was arrested (by which point the city considers it a "safety" issue and can remove them immediately and permanently with force).

Last night, force was used to remove one of them. Not sure what will happen with the other guy, who's always been the more congenial of the two.

Plus, I still know this all started because the "evictees" were ticked about the music levels around them. And because I can empathize with that, I haven't registered a formal complaint (not to mention, I don't want my name on that guy's hit list).

Sad part being they've disturbed, upset and angered the rest of us in plotting their retaliation against the tenants with the loud music.

I.e. they've made my living situation far worse.

Silver lining: the situation is providing excellent blog fodder.

PS - I'm not sure, but I think the guy may have urinated and/or sweat excessively on the carpet outside of me door. It really stunk this morning, anyway.

Woodrow - I think its level of "excellence" is questionable, but you raise a valid point.

Good lord. I'm thinking you should have your hair and makeup done at all times, just in case COPS shows up.

Woodrow and Winter both have great points. As for the wetness: I'm sure it was just sweat.
