The Life & Times of a Disgruntled City-Dweller

Just an ordinary evening in my apartment, where I have no control over temperature.

Yeah, um. Not THAT cold. 55F outside in the winter feels great with a coat. 55F inside your apartment in the winter — when there's also a draft — doesn't.

It's miserable, in fact. And 11 degrees below the city-mandated minimum. But when I mentioned the temperature problem last year, they sent someone in to check it out THE WARMEST DAY OF THE WINTER. So it did no good, and I don't have the energy to try again this year.

I'm just hoping the temperture continues to be as mild as it has been the last couple weeks. Otherwise, it's back to sleeping in gloves, a hat & a sweatshirt.

Did I mention that — during our cold spell about three weeks ago — there were some nights when I'd wake up to go to the bathroom only to find that same thermostat reading UNDER 50F?

I was literally shaking when I'd return to bed.

There has got to be a way you can make the land lord do something about the heat. Good luck.

RYN: From what I understand, you are going to get some snow. And no, probably not as much as we did. Here is hoping not as much.
