(echoes from my so-blogged life)
You won't find this in the city: a vegetable stand where you take what you want and leave your money in a jar.

It is astonishing. Not even here, where it takes me less than three hours to get to NYC or Philly and only four hours to D.C. but is more remote than P-town, do people have roadside stands using the honor system. I'm not joking about being more out in the boonies than home is.
I grew up w/ that sort of mentality as a child in bucolic Vermont, where one year surplus zucchinis flooded the backyard gardens.
I know, it's sick.
You must divulge the location of this tomato bounty and the free coffee can of loot. The cash would be spent on bacon, lettuce, bread and mayo.
I know where there's one of those. True story: Once I stopped there to get some 'maters and there were no prices posted, just the can. So I guessed.
I've heard of some used bookstores in small airports that have the honor system. They supposedly are profitable. Why? Because customers leave more than they have to.
I think people vastly OVERESTIMATE the value of fresh produce. An ex of mine once paid five 1999 U.S. dollars for a cantaloupe.
we've got some of those around our town.
