It was like that this weekend, when I was served by a waiter named Jesus (employee number: 42) before returning to the cool morning air.

It's cold and wet — certainly not beach weather — but never once does it occur to me that it's awful.
And yet those were among the first words I heard this morning, working my way through a labyrinth of desks in search of my own.

It's so ugly out, they said. What an awful day.
And I have to admit — having spent yesterday with my glasses constantly coated in rainwater — that this weather has its cons.

But ugly? Or awful?

You're looking at it all wrong.

Well put. Thanks for the reminder!!
ReplyDeleteThe fog and drizzle change everything. But it takes a keen observer to note that some of the changes are for the better. And after all - it is only water.
ReplyDeletei dunno, a couple of the pics didn't load properly on this entry. well written as usual, though. thanks.
ReplyDeletePerspective can make anything pretty I guess.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite weather, second only to the gloom of fall.
ReplyDeleteI think it just frames the city in a romantic feel... Romantic like the period, not romantic mush.
if only His number would have been 40 - so much closer. good pics otherwise. I really like fog. it makes outside my head like inside. the great equalizer. I think I would have lied and said His number was 40. truth can only hold you back here.
ReplyDeleteI love days like that. Probably because they are few and far between here. I love pictures with things disappearing into fog and clouds. Here it is mainly mountains. It was 13 this morning. Blech.
ReplyDeleteWell, if Jesus is employee 42, I guess he really is The Answer. Now we just need the question.

DS- Why would I want to change the number, when "42" signifies the answer to the meaning of life, as per Douglas Adams?
ReplyDeleteThat the waiter's name was Jesus — and his staff number was 42 — amused me beyond words.
40 is much more Biblical.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Debbie Downer just saw the glass half full!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are seeing it all right. I love fog and rainy days. Beautiful really.
ReplyDeleteI did a weather report, too!
ReplyDeleteAh, right. 40 days and nights. I follow you now. But I'm still plenty content with 42, especially given the origins of my blogger id (an homage to the Hitchhiker's Guide).
ReplyDeletewalking in a fog -- are we talking about weather?? :)
